As players trained and prepped for the 2019 FIBA World Cup the Italian National Team was delivered a blow when OKC Thunder forward Danilo Gallinari suffered an appendix flare-up requiring surgery.
Generally, recovery from the removal of an appendix is two to three weeks if there are no complications. As an example, the Raptors OG Anunoby suffered a burst appendix the night prior to the start of the playoffs. Since his appendix burst, combined with post-surgery complications it kept the defensive forward out the entirety of the postseason.
Fortunately, Gallo’s a quick healer and was able to recover and get back on the hardwood in time for this year’s World Cup.
