We went to one of my favorite San Francisco spots on Thursday. Coit Tower.
Coit Tower is a 210-foot tower that sits atop Telegraph Hill. From the hill are spectacular views of San Francisco to the north and to the east. From the top of tower itself are panoramic views of the entire city.
Coit Tower was built with the money bequeathed to the city one of San Francisco’s most eccentric characters, Lillie Hitchcock Coit.
According to CNN Money, Coit was a wealthy socialite who loved to chase fires in early San Francisco. As a 15-year-old kid, she helped the volunteer fire department push an engine up Telegraph Hill to put out a fire.
