NBA's new G-League foul rule won't work

The NBA wants to reduce the interruptions to the flow of its game, so it is implementing a bold experiment in the G League this season: one foul shot per trip to the line, with that shot counting for either one, two or three points, depending on how many foul shots traditionally would have been granted.

Call it a classic case of a problem in search of a solution.

The NBA is right, that its games face too many interruptions. Too many times in a game, continuity is disrupted.

But the new G League rule won’t help matters.
