On Thursday evening, soon-to-be grandmother Sheree Wilhite received a phone call. Mysteriously, she was told to arrive at Burlington Coat Factory in Moore on Saturday afternoon. She had some items on layaway at the store but didn’t know exactly what was awaiting her.
When she arrived on Saturday, 6-foot-10 Thunder forward Mike Muscala was standing at the entrance of the store, waiting to announce that Wilhite and 26 other people were the recipients of a special holiday surprise: their layaways would all be paid off.
To make the event come together, Muscala partnered with a national organization called Pay Away the Layaway, which has representatives in Oklahoma to help give residents a little extra boost throughout the year.
