Marcus Smart isn’t a prolific scorer. He doesn’t shoot all that well, by NBA standards. His statistics pile up more horizontally than vertically.
But Smart is a winning basketball player, and he showed that in Game 7 of the Boston-Washington Eastern Conference semifinals Monday night.
In the Celtics’ 115-105 victory, Smart had 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting, made both of his 3-point attempts, had six rebounds and four assists, and committed zero turnovers. The Celtics outscored the Wizards by 14 points during Smart’s 29-1/2 minutes. Smart played some of the defense that held Washington star John Wall to 8-of-23 shooting, including missing his final 11 shots.
