Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot is, first and foremost, French.
The Thunder's new swingman grew up in France, his mother's home country. He spends a chunk of his offseason there. He plays international basketball for the French national team.
But Africa is in his bloodline, too.
And when Luwawu-Cabarrot suits up for Saturday's NBA Africa Game in Pretoria, South Africa, it'll be with a nod to that half of his heritage. His father is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and on Saturday Luwawu-Cabarrot will suit up for Team Africa against Team World.
“I feel especially proud that I'm here and representing my other part,” Luwawu-Cabarrot told The Oklahoman by phone from Johannesburg, South Africa.
