Since the Thunder drafted Alex Abrines 32nd overall in 2013, the Spanish sharpshooter has been compared to compatriot Rudy Fernandez.
That’s generally meant as a compliment.
But sort of makes you want to learn up on Fernandez.
Fernandez is a 6-foot-6 swing man who began playing with Spanish club DKV Joventut at the age of 16 in 2001.
Fernandez was drafted 24th overall by the Suns in 2007 but traded almost immediately to the Portland TrailBlazers.
A year later, Fernandez decided to come over to the NBA. He signed with the Blazers.
In three Portland seasons, Fernandez was a valuable rotation player who rarely started.
