The NBA’s projected salary cap for the 2017-18 season will reportedly be $99 million, a decrease from what it was thought to land on when free agency begins on July 1.
Late Wednesday night, Turner Sports’ David Aldridge reported that the salary cap would drop from the expected $102 million. The luxury tax also changes to a new projection of $119 million. A major factor in the decline: The NBA’s cap is based on league-wide revenue and the league reportedly lost revenue due to a shorter postseason.
FYI: 79 playoff games tied fewest since NBA elongated playoffs in 2003.
