Kevin Hervey kept his arms extended high above his head after the shot clock buzzer sounded. Not many people could slow down Salt Lake City’s Grayson Allen on Tuesday, but Hervey produced a stop, his long arms forcing Allen into only his second miss from 3 in eight tries.
Hervey was playing center, mind you, isolated against Allen on the perimeter. It was part of an all-action performance from the Thunder’s second-round pick.
Hervey scored 22 points and had six rebounds, but his defensive versatility was just as important in the Oklahoma City Blue’s 118-113 win against the Salt Lake City Stars in the first round of the G League playoffs on Tuesday.
