FIBA World Cup: Danilo Gallinari, Italy overcome 20-point halftime deficit to beat Puerto Rico

Italy pulled off its biggest second-half comeback in FIBA World Cup history with a 94-89 overtime win against Puerto Rico Sunday.

In the Azzurri’s FIBA World Cup finale, Thunder forward Danilo Gallinari teamed up with Marco Belinelli to lead Italy to victory after trailing by 20 points at halftime. Italy had never before overcome a halftime deficit of 15 points or more in the World Cup.

"It was a very bad game for us in the beginning,” Gallinari said. “We did not show up. We knew that we had to come out with a different attitude and different intensity in the second half, and I think that we did a great job.
