Falcons' Super Bowl a sign of the NFC's parity

Super Bowl 51 is a perfect matchup to describe the two conferences in the NFL.

Representing the AFC, the Patriots. New England is a Super Bowl mainstays. This is the Patriots’ seventh trip in the last 16 seasons.

Representing the NFC, the Falcons. This is Atlanta’s first Super Bowl of the 2000s and second ever.

That’s life in these respective conferences.

In the last 16 years, 12 NFC franchises have made the Super Bowl. The Giants and Panthers have made it twice; the Seahawks have made it thrice. The only NFC franchises without a Super Bowl trip since the 2000 season are Dallas, Washington, Detroit and Minnesota.
