ESPN names Paul George leader for Defensive Player of the Year

Paul George’s campaign to be NBA Defensive Player of the Year is gaining momentum. ESPN polled its panel of experts for their mid-season votes on awards, and the Thunder wing stopper was the leader for Defensive Player of the Year. You can read the entire ESPN story here.

George received 31.8 percent of the votes, giving him a small lead over Utah center Rudy Gobert, an annual contender for the honor. Gobert drew 25 percent of the votes. New Orleans’ Anthony Davis and Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard got 15.9 percent of the votes, while Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid drew 11.
