Cheering Kevin Durant's injury takes the Canada out of Canadians

Canada is a lovely place. I’ve been three straight summers – Niagara Falls, Victoria and Prince Edward Island – and can’t wait to go back. I love everything about The North, starting with the people. Canada just seems like a kinder, gentler place.

And then Kevin Durant came up lame in the second quarter of The NBA Finals’ Game 5 Monday night. As Durant started hopping, then quickly fell to the court in his first game since returning from a calf strain that sidelined him 33 days earlier, the Toronto Raptors’ crowd started pointing, then smiling, then cheering.
