The Blue and White scrimmage Sunday gave fans and media members their first glimpse of a new era of Thunder basketball.
After trades this summer that sent two cornerstones (Russell Westbrook and Paul George) from last season’s squad to the Rockets and Clippers, respectively, Sunday provided the first opportunity for the public to see how OKC’s new mix of players works together.
But Thunder coach Billy Donovan said not to "read too much" into how he and his staff split up the teams.
Donovan brushed aside the notion that he put 21-year-old point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and veteran Chris Paul on separate teams to give Gilgeous-Alexander more ball-handling opportunities.
