Barcelona VP 'upset' Alex Abrines left, but understands NBA lure

This week, FC Barcelona fourth vice president Manel Arroyo said the club was “upset” with Alex Abrines leaving, but understood the circumstances of the 23-year-old shooting guard joining the Oklahoma City Thunder.

On a conference call this week to discuss the opening of Barcelona’s New York City office as well as expansion into the National Women’s Soccer League, Arroyo was asked by The Oklahoman’s James Poling (you can check out his soccer writing here) about Abrines and his move from Barcelona to the Thunder.

Before Kevin Durant’s departure in free agency, it didn’t look like Abrines would be making the move stateside, but on July 18, Abrines was signed to a three-year deal reportedly valued at around $17.
