NBA rosters are filling up. Some teams still have roster space, but some don’t. The Thunder has 16 players under contract and the league limit is 15. So something’s got to give.
And 57 players who had NBA contracts last season remain free agents. It’s simple mathematics. When new players come into the league – from college, from international ball, from the G-League – that means they’re taking the job of someone who was on a roster last season.
Someone will be left out.
So far, those still unemployed are former impact players like Ty Lawson, Brandon Jennings, Deron Williams, Tony Allen, Roy Hibbert and Aaron Brooks.
