Andre Roberson is out for OKC's preseason game against the New Zealand Breakers Thursday, Thunder coach Billy Donovan announced.
Roberson has not appeared in a competitive game since January 2018, when he ruptured his left patellar tendon. He has been practicing with the team, but he missed the Thunder’s Blue & White Scrimmage and preseason opener against Dallas earlier this week. The Thunder cited a cautious approach to easing Roberson back into play, after setbacks slowed his return last season.
“This is the first time in a long time he’s been thrust into a full NBA practice, a full training camp in more than a year and a half," Donovan said Tuesday, "so there’s going to be times when he’s going to be sore.
