Trae Young’s No. 3 Hornets jersey is tattered, but that’s what time will do.
Chris Paul’s NBA career began 14 years ago in Oklahoma City when the Hornets temporarily relocated from New Orleans. A 7-year-old Young sported Paul’s jersey in the upper deck of the Ford Center. Rayford Young, Trae’s dad, knows the jersey is lying around somewhere.
“That’s how Trae fell in love with the NBA,” Rayford said.
Young has grown from Norman North prodigy, to OU phenom to NBA All-Star. Paul has changed teams three times since then — each stop another line in a hall of fame resume.
