After being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Phoenix Suns, Center Greg Monroe was consequently bought and acquired by the Boston Celtics via waivers. Upon reaching a buyout deal with the Suns, Monroe had serious interest from a number of clubs seeking a big man to shore up their front court.
Ultimately, the lure of a potential championship with the Celtics resulted in a one-year, five-million-dollar deal with Boston. The Celts ultimately fell at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals.
With Boston intent on re-signing Aron Baynes and drafting of rookie Robert Williams, Monroe is on the outside looking in.
