The Pacers won't even get any picks back in the trade. Oladipo and Sabonis were the two pieces the Thunder landed from the Orlando Magic in exchange for Serge Ibaka. It's a limited return for the Pacers, though the pending free agency of George severely limited his value.
The Thunder were not considered one of the main favorites to trade for George. The Celtics and Lakers were the two front-runners to land George. The addition of George gives the Thunder, at least for a year, a second superstar to pair with MVP Russell Westbrook.
