The Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly promised to draft Murray State point guard Cameron Payne with the No. 14 overall pick in the NBA Draft, but he may not last that long, according to NewsOK.com:
Well, it's looking more and more likely that Payne won't make it that far in the draft. Multiple teams in the top of the lottery are bringing in Payne to work out, including the Lakers, who own the No. 2 pick, and the Knicks (No. 4), who are reportedly showing serious interest in trading down for Payne. The Kings also have reported interest in the6-foot-1, 183-pounder.
That's not to say that Payne is going that high in the draft, but the gap is closing between Payne, D'Angelo Russell/Emmanuel Mundiay for the title of Draft's Top Point Guard. If Payne goes higher than initually anticipated, it could be the second year in a row the Thunder was in early on a fast-rising prospect. The Thunder was high on international prospect Kristaps Porzingis in 2014 before he withdrew, but now Porzingis is slated as a Top 5 pick.
