The Oklahoma City Thunder hold the No. 21 overall pick in Thursday's NBA Draft, and there are numerous players they could target with the selection. With the Thunder's lack of shooting and no depth behind Russell Westbrook, a guard seems like the most likely option. With that in mind, here are three players they could target in the first round
3. Jawun Evans, PG, Oklahoma State
If Evans was a few inches taller, he'd likely be a lottery pick. But because he measured in at the NBA Combine at just under 6-foot (with a 6-foot-5 wingspan), Evans might fall to the Thunder. And he'd be a good fit for a team that badly needs a backup point guard. Evans would immediately jump Semaj Christon, who isn't the answer behind Russell Westbrook. Adding Evans would allow the Thunder to lessen the burden on Westbrook and give the team another player who can create his own shot. Evans was a scorer at Oklahoma State, putting up over 19 points per game.
2. Terrance Ferguson, SG, Australia
The biggest need for the Thunder is shooting and Ferguson can provide that. The highly-recruited Tulsa, Oklahoma native elected to play overseas last year instead of heading to Arizona and he didn't play a ton for his Australian team. He's best as a spot-up 3-point shooter, something the Thunder need. He'd likely backup Victor Oladipo at shooting guard, but gives the Thunder a better shooting option at that spot. As an added bonus, Ferguson's mother wants the Thunder to take her son, because the Thunder are her favorite team. If he's on the board, Ferguson is a strong candidate to be selected.
1. Luke Kennard, SG, Duke
Kennard would be a perfect fit for the Thunder. He broke out in his sophomore year for the Blue Devils, averaging 19.5 points per game and shot a blistering 43.8 percent from deep. Kennard chilling in the corner and getting kick out passes from a driving Westbrook is exactly what the Thunder offense needs. It's a perfect match, but there's a real chance Kennard doesn't last until the No. 21 overall pick. He's received more and more buzz lately, and he could go in the lottery. The Thunder should be his draft floor.
