The Ohio State women’s rowing team won its third straight national championship today, rallying to overtake California in the NCAA Division I finals at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif.
The Buckeyes’ No. 1 Varsity 8 boat beat Cal by a half-second in the 2,000-meter finals to clinch the title. The Golden Bears entered the day in first place but had fallen behind Ohio State entering the last race.
The Buckeyes’ No. 1 Varsity 8 boat’s time of 6 minutes, 18.15 seconds was the second-fastest ever recorded at the NCAA regatta. Ohio State’s top boat finished the season with a 49-0 record.
