Shayla Cooper had two things on her mind when she splashed three three-point baskets during the third quarter of a taut Ohio State game against Purdue on Sunday at Value City Arena.
The second, the prodding of co-captain Ameryst Alston, outweighed the simple matter of making the shots.
“Ameryst gets mad when I pass up those shots when I’m wide open,” said Cooper, who ended the 90-70 victory with 16 points and a career-best 4-of-4 performance from beyond the arc. “Teams tend to play off me for the drive, so I knew I would have a lot of open shots.
