Women's basketball | Ohio State's Mitchell, Alston are first-team all-Big Ten

Ohio State guards Kelsey Mitchell and Ameryst Alston earned first-team, all-Big Ten honors on Monday in voting conducted by the conference coaches and media.

Mitchell, a sophomore, was a unanimous choice in both polls, but failed to repeat as Big Ten player of the year. The coaches and media both chose Minnesota redshirt senior Rachel Banham for that honor.

Banham led the Big Ten in scoring at 27.7 points per game and also set a new conference career scoring record with 2,982 points. Mitchell was second in scoring at 25.3 points per game.

Alston, a senior, averaged 19.
