Flip a light switch on and off enough times and a bulb goes pop as surely as night follows day.
Ohio State played its way into the dark Thursday during an 86-82 upset loss at Northwestern. The fifth-ranked Buckeyes (12-4, 4-1 Big Ten) trailed 48-30 after playing an abysmal first half and couldn’t catch the more energized Wildcats.
“We had a really bad start,” Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff said. “They were ready and we weren’t. And they made us pay.”
The loss ended an eight-game winning streak for the Buckeyes and knocked them out of a first-place tie in the conference with Purdue.
