Women’s basketball | Buckeyes run past Mountaineers into Sweet 16

Kelsey Mitchell scored 45 points to help the Ohio State women's basketball team defeat West Virginia 88-81 on Sunday and advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

The third-seeded Buckeyes (26-7) used a blistering pace on offense and full-court pressure on defense to put away the sixth-seeded Mountaineers (25-10).

The defense paid the biggest dividends. West Virginia committed 27 turnovers that turned into 40 points for the Buckeyes.

Mitchell took the to the basket relentlessly in the game and drew fouls. She was 18 for 22 from the free-throw line.

Bria Holmes led West Virginia with 21 points.
