A second-quarter incompletion targeted for TreVeyon Henderson closed the book on a record-breaking start to the College Football Playoff national championship game for Will Howard.
Howard came out of the gates with relentless precision against Notre Dame, connecting on each of his first 13 passes to set a CFP title game record for consecutive completions. The previous record was 12, set by Alabama quarterback Mac Jones against Ohio State in the 2021 CFP national championship game.
There were some dimes dropped among those 13. He moved the chains on two separate 3rd-and-7s on Ohio State's final drive of the first half with darts to Brandon Inniss and Carnell Tate, respectively.
