As more award watch lists come out, it should be no surprise to see an Ohio State Buckeye, and today is no different. The Jim Thorpe Award watch list was announced today, and Ohio State safety Vonn Bell was among those listed. The award goes annually to the best defensive back in the country.
Bell started in 14 games for the Buckeyes last season, and was an honorable mention for all-Big Ten Conference. He was tied for 8th in the FBS, and 1st in the Big Ten with six interceptions as a sophomore. Bell recorded 91 total tackles last season, and came up big in the National Championship game against Oregon, where he recorded six tackles and an interception.
