(Editor’s note: This is the first in a series of articles looking at how Ohio State football head coach Urban Meyer built a championship team)
When coach Urban Meyer set foot on campus of The Ohio State University in November 2011 he didn’t find the cupboard completely bare, but he had quite a few empty spots to fill.
Even though former coach Jim Tressel had been moving to a more wide open offense for a while, there were pieces missing in order to run the spread offense coach Meyer prefers. Also the depth on defense particularly at linebacker was severely lacking.
