Every college football coach, including Urban Meyer, takes into account a high school player’s recruiting ranking at their particular position to some degree. But coach Meyer and his staff often find a “football player”, and then find a position for him to play.
The reason I emphasized “football player”, is because not all great athletes can play football. Renaldo Nehemiah was the fastest hurdler in the nation in the 1980’s but didn’t succeed in the NFL as a wide receiver. But often a “football player” with athleticism can succeed at some position.
There are a few Buckeyes who will be drafted by NFL teams at different positions than they played in high school.
