As Watterson goes for a regional baseball championship at Wright State late Friday afternoon against Bellbrook, the Eagles’ most famous -- and one of its more nervous -- fans, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, plans to be there. His son, freshman Nate Meyer, plays second base, and the Eagles are one win away from making the state tournament.
“It’s real emotional to watch him; I get more damn nervous than he does, I’m sure, at those games,” said Meyer, who was there on Thursday when Watterson beat Cincinnati (McNicholas) in the regional semifinal, Eagles pitcher Sam Rice taking a no-hitter into the fifth inning before settling for the 1-0 win.
