The College Football Playoff is the best thing to happen to college football since Bret Bielema made Joe Paterno really, really upset by exploiting a loophole in the clock rules. It is a (relatively) great solution to the issue of legitimacy that has dogged about 35% of college football's national champions ever since we figured out the forward pass. Hell, the 2002 Ohio State team won 14 games in an undefeated season and there are still people who want to put an asterisk next to that achievement. Anything short of total dominance is seen as a crack in the armor of an otherwise great team, and in years past a singular bowl win hasn't always been enough to prove anything to a large amount of fans.
