Editor: I have heard numerous discussions regarding the various special Nike uniforms the Buckeyes have worn in past years, including the distastefully named “combat” uniforms. Some love them, and others despise them.
However, the discussion is always framed in the wrong terms because while acknowledging that many like the occasional change, they overlook the overwhelming consensus that virtually all Buckeye fans love our traditional uniforms.
So the question becomes: Why would athletic director Gene Smith choose to put the team in a uniform which a large portion of ticket-buying and faithful fans hate, rather than a traditional uniform that is almost universally loved?
