Editor: As great as a coach as he is, Urban Meyer has a fatal flaw: he puts too much on his quarterbacks. We don’t have to look before Ohio State as his track record here is proof enough.
Whenever the offense struggles, his quarterbacks get too many carries. His teams become one-dimensional and lose their athletic superiority over opponents. In big games and big plays it tilts the balance in the favor of the opponent.
Glaring and memorable examples are Braxton Miller’s quarterback keeper on fourth-and-2 that came up short against Michigan State in 2013. This on a day when Carlos Hyde was having a very good day.
