It’s funny the things you think of when you call it a career.
On my first year on the Ohio State beat in 1977, I covered the first football meeting between Ohio State and Oklahoma. It was a game for the ages, with the No. 3 Sooners finally beating the No. 4 Buckeyes 29-28 on a 41-yard Uwe von Schamann field goal with three seconds remaining.
As a young reporter, I had visions of the 1935 Ohio State-Notre Dame game that some call the greatest in college football history, and I left the old Horseshoe feeling fortunate to have covered such a classic game.
