Seth McLaughlin Joins Caleb Downs As Consensus All-American As Both Earn First-Team Honors from FWAA

Ohio State now has two consensus All-Americans this season.

Seth McLaughlin became Ohio State’s second consensus All-American this season and 57th consensus All-American all-time when he was named a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America on Monday.

Caleb Downs, who became a consensus All-American on Monday, also earned first-team honors from the FWAA. He is now one step away from unanimous All-American honors, which he will earn if he is named a first-team All-American by Sporting News on Wednesday.

McLaughlin and Downs are the seventh and eighth Buckeyes to become consensus All-Americans in Ryan Day’s tenure, joining Jeff Okudah (unanimous, 2019), Chase Young (unanimous, 2019), Shaun Wade (consensus, 2020), Wyatt Davis (unanimous, 2020), Paris Johnson (consensus, 2022) and Marvin Harrison Jr.
