On the eve of the big Ohio State-Michigan State game, Buckeyes fan Tom Price was doing some trash talking.
But he wasn’t slamming the Spartans. He was talking about the food scraps, paper waste and other forms of garbage that amass at Ohio Stadium on game days — detritus that Price’s business turns into black gold.
His family-run Price Farms Organics takes stuff tossed into recycling bins and turns it into compost with an appropriately boosterish name: Stadium Scarlet. It’s a way for Buckeyes fans to spread a little of the stadium in their own backyards.
Compostable materials from ticket stubs to half-eaten hot dogs are trucked to Price Farms Organics, a composting facility that is part of Price’s 286-acre farm.
