Tom Izzo smells blood in the water. Scarlet blood. Gray blood. Thad Matta’s blood. So instead of becoming irate with his own team following a 72-67 loss at Ohio State on Sunday, the Michigan State coach turned his anger toward the sharks.
“I don’t care what the hell people in Columbus say, it’s a good team,” Izzo said of the Buckeyes.
He was just warming up. After dissecting what went wrong for Sparty — substandard defense, overconfident freshmen and the Buckeyes shooting lights out, for them, from three-point range (10 of 23) — Izzo committed coaching blasphemy by admitting he was kind of glad Ohio State won.
