Rob Oller commentary | J.T. Barrett will shine if team does its part

In the grand theater that is Ohio State football, all quarterbacks wear the Greek comedy and tragedy masks at some point during their careers.

All have played the part of Thalia, the smiling protector of upbeat poetry and positivity. All also have filled the role of Melpomene, frowning muse of misfortune.

I see a transcendent Troy Smith against Michigan. I see a transfatty Smith against Florida. I see Art Schlichter tossing touchdowns to Gary Williams and completing interceptions to Penn State. I see Terrelle Pryor heating up against Wisconsin and melting down against Purdue.

The quarterbacks see themselves wearing the happy and sad masks, too.
