Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh is playing golf today at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on the Monterey Peninsula in California, where he will rub elbows with Justin Timberlake and Bill Murray even as he rubs many in college football the wrong way.
It is vintage Harbaugh; equally comfortable creating friendships and friction. One minute he is chit-chatting with Tom Brady and Derek Jeter at Michigan’s Signing with the Stars gala, an over-the-top (and effective) recruiting gimmick in Ann Arbor on national signing day. The next minute he is angering the Southeastern Conference by announcing plans to have Michigan practices over spring break in Florida.
