It was J.T. Barrett's first Big Ten game and Maryland's first Big Ten game. Barrett walked off the field feeling better about how things went than the Terrapins. That's because Barrett completed 18-of-23 passes for 267 yards and four touchdowns and he rushed for 71 yards and another score. It was only Barrett's second game with five or more touchdowns, and hsi first against a team from a Power Five conference.
Barrett also threw a touchdown pass to the back of the end zone to Mike Thomas, who jumped up and grabbed the pass before acrobatically getting a foot down for the touchdown.
