For the past few days, Ohio State coach Thad Matta has gotten a glimpse at what an experienced college point guard looks like.
With starter JaQuan Lyle struggling and backup A.J. Harris unavailable because of illness, Matta turned to assistant coach Greg Paulus to handle some practice point-guard duties in advance of a game tonight at Value City Arena against Northern Illinois. A four-year player at Duke, Paulus was a stopgap while the Buckeyes were low on bodies.
Harris is expected to be healthy and available tonight, but Matta has also tinkered with a few other options at the position.
