Michigan State kicker Michael Geiger was good from 41 yards Saturday, but a timeout by Ohio State just before the snap nullified the would-be winning kick. Seconds later, he split the uprights once more as time expired for good measure.
This time it counted, Geiger’s 41-yard field goal sending the No. 9 Spartans to a 17-14 win over the No. 3 Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium. The victory, which snapped Ohio State’s 23-game winning streak, gives Michigan State three wins in teams’ past five meetings.
The Spartans overcame the absence of starting quarterback Connor Cook, who sat out after suffering a right shoulder injury last week against Maryland, by dominating on the line of scrimmage.
