Ohio State’s Urban Meyer admits knowing of 2015 allegations against Zack Smith

In his first statement following his acknowledgement of being placed on paid administrative leave, Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer posted an open-letter on his personal Twitter account regarding his handling of domestic abuse accusations against former assistant coach Zack Smith.

In his statement, Meyer admits that he was aware of the 2015 allegations made by Smith’s now ex-wife, Courtney, and claims that he reported the information through the proper university channels.

Meyer explains that in his statements at Big Ten Media Days, he was not trying to lie or deceive either the press or the public, but rather inarticulately tried to avoid discussing “sensitive personnel issues with the media.
