Thirty-seven college football players have been named to the watch list for this year's Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, and four of them play for Ohio State.
Redshirt freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud, true freshman running back TreVeyon Henderson, true freshman cornerback Denzel Burke and true freshman defensive tackle Tyleik Williams were all named to the award’s watch list on Tuesday, making Ohio State the only school with four candidates for the award, which honors the most outstanding freshman player in college football.
Stroud, who was also named Tuesday as a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award and has been named as a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, makes the watch list after completing 67 percent of his passes for 2,675 yards and 25 touchdowns with only five interceptions in his eight games as Ohio State’s starting quarterback.
