On the many days last season when the Ohio State women’s basketball team only had seven or eight healthy players, coach Kevin McGuff wouldn’t have blinked if a tumbleweed had blown through the far end of the practice gym at Value City Arena.
McGuff surveyed the gym on Thursday afternoon and saw Buckeyes sprouting around the court like happy, lively daffodils.
“It’s been fun,” McGuff said. “And it’s different, yeah.”
The July gathering of the 14-player roster occurred because McGuff is preparing the players for an NCAA-sanctioned trip to Brazil from Aug. 6 to 16. Rules allow teams on such trips 10 summer practices.
