Ohio State women's basketball | Transfer Stephanie Mavunga dominant inside in win over Duquesne

With the addition of two starters and a revived bench, No. 7 Ohio State carried on in Friday's season opener with what it did last season: smother teams with a full court press, give up the occasional easy bucket, and punish the opposition on offense.

That, plus help from one of the top guards in the country, gave Ohio State an 89-69 win over Duquesne at St. John Arena.

Kelsey Mitchell, who had struggled to find her shot in an exhibition against Ashland, scored 18 points on 6-of-17 shooting.

Redshirt-junior transfer Stephanie Mavunga also impressed in her new starting role.
