It didn’t come easily, but Ohio State women’s basketball started Big Ten play with a win over a ranked opponent.
The 12th-ranked Buckeyes trailed No. 25 Penn State for the entire second and third quarters but outscored the Nittany Lions 21-12 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. The Buckeyes controlled the extra period to secure a 94-84 win over the visiting Nittany Lions and improve to 8-1 on the year with their second ranked win in as many Sundays.
Jacy Sheldon scored a season-high 31 points and Cotie McMahon added 27 points to lead the Buckeyes to the tightly contested victory.
