When the game clock reached zero on Saturday in College Park, Md., a jubilant group of Ohio State players had a victory that put the Buckeyes back into the conversation with the top-end teams in women’s basketball.
The 80-71 victory over the Terrapins, the defending Big Ten champions, elevated Ohio State to No. 5 in both major polls for the first time since January 2010. A short, sweet ride on cloud nine followed the final buzzer.
“The best part is we had won some big games at home this year, but we really hadn’t won a big game on the road,” senior co-captain Cait Craft said.
